James & Bea We're getting married 08-02-2025
from first glance to forever
We first met at Genfest, an event of the Focolare movement, held in the Philippines. Before the main event, Bea and her group from Italy visited my city for pre-activities, and that’s when our paths crossed. At first, we were just two people brought together by circumstance, enjoying the event and the friendships that formed along the way.
But after Genfest ended, something unexpected happened—we stayed in touch. We talked, we shared, we grew closer. What started as a beautiful connection at the event soon became something much deeper. Despite the distance, our conversations became constant, and with each passing day, our bond grew stronger.
Now, we’re ready to start our greatest adventure yet— a lifetime together. And we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this journey with all of you!
Our story started in Dumaguete, James' hometown, when we met during the pre-Genfest activities. An international event for young people all over the world.
After the Genfest, we started talking more and more frequently. Over time, we realized we had deep feelings for each other, but the immense distance between us—an actual ocean—made things complicated. So began a year filled with ups and downs, mixed emotions, and different phases of our relationship.
Then, James surprised Bea with a trip to Italy—what a wonderful surprise! Unfortunately, even though we were finally in the same country, we were still separated by hundreds of kilometers. Luckily, we had many opportunities to see each other, like during the lockdown months when James lived with Bea’s family (haha!). Still, the distance was always a challenge, and every goodbye was difficult.
We spent three months in Lisbon doing an internship—our first experience living together away from friends and family. It was an enriching time, but also full of challenges. For the first time, we discovered sides of ourselves that we didn’t particularly like! This little “relationship crisis” didn’t pull us apart; instead, it made us more self-aware and stronger as a couple, bringing us back to Italy with a deeper bond.
Then came the time for Bea to visit James’ homeland and meet his family. What an adventure! Turtles, coral reefs, adorable nieces and nephews, and a warm welcome from friends and relatives. But even here, challenges arose—adapting to a new culture, different customs, and an unfamiliar language wasn’t easy for Bea. Yet, this experience became another opportunity for growth, making our relationship even stronger.
And then… adulthood arrived! After graduating, we both started job hunting. James found a job in Modena, while Bea began her career in Arezzo—once again in different regions! This new phase of long distance wasn’t easy, especially since our relationship had grown more serious. But at the same time, it was an exciting period as we both embarked on our careers with passion and dedication.
And finally… Bea moved to Modena—yay! Now, we’ve started our life together, preparing for the big step of marriage, surrounded by the love and support of our family and friends. We’re ready for everything this journey has in store for us!
